Ok, my question is, I have a 1995 camaro, and I want to change the headlights to be more brighter like some cars have white LED headlights, or just a whiter form of halogen bulbs. Can I just replace the bulb, or I have to get a whole new headlight?

One more question is the service engine soon light only comes on when I use the accelerator, could it have anythiung to do with the exhaust system, catalytic converter, or acceraltor system?

Thank you.

  1. brighter headlights use bluestar they run about 35to45 dollars, take your car have it scanned it could be a fault in the egr system

  2. You can just replace the bulbs.  Check at any major automotive parts store for your options.  They should be able to cross reference the higher end bulbs to your Camaro.

The service engine soon light could be anything.  If it is running OK, there isn't anything to get too worried about.  It is most likely an oxygen sensor reading out of limits or a malfunctioning EGR valve.

Because the service engine soon light is coming on, there is more than likely a trouble code stored in the engine management computer.  The only way to find the trouble code is to connect a scan tool to the engine management computer diagnostic port, usually located under the driver's side dash.  These scan tools can get expensive.

However, most major automotive parts stores will connect a scan tool to the diagnostic port for free.  They can extract the code so you can make an informed decision if you need to see a mechanic.
