Question about headphones into the computer?

When I plug my headphones into my computer the sound still comes out of the regular computer speakers. How do I get it so that it only goes to the headphones?

ok mommy Corp. This one is pretty easy to fix. You'll notice at the bottom of the screen there is a bar with the start button on it called the task bar. To the far right on this bar are a bunch of little icons. These icons represent programs running on your computer. in order to change it so you can only listen through the headphones you will need to close any application using the sound card. Once you've done this, find the icon that looks like a speaker. right click on this icon and if you have windows Vista, choose playback properties. then right click on headphones and choose set to default. Your headphones would now be operating alone. If you would like to switch back to the main speakers, simply do this again but with the other option available(other audio device beside headphones).
