Question:

Question about hemming a dress...?

I just got an ankle length thick material dress for my birthday. The bottom of it has extra triangles of material added so it is "flowy"

I love the dress, but I'd like it more if it was sun dress length. Is it possible to cut out a piece of the center of the dress and hem it together so I can keep the flowy bottom?

I want to get it professionally done, I'm not to worried about price. Just want to know if it's possible?

  1. you can do it, but if it has layers and you want the bottom and the top to match you will probably need to take in the sides of the bottom too. with the middle gone the bottom will be to wide most likely so just remember that. and never cut without considering how much you need to hem or serge. always leave extra. you can always go back and make it shorter but never longer.   : )

  2. Simply instruct your seamtress to just saw the upper portion to make it looked like a layered dress so that there's no need to cut the dress.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ADVANCE!!!!!!! GOD BLESS THE CHILD.

  3. Absolutely.  Go for it.  :)
