Question:

Question about house mold.?

I have a crazy shower head that soaked part of my wall and ceiling (only while I was taking a shower). This went on for one or two months until I bothered to fix it today. Then my boyfriend said he thinks houses can get moldy that way! I live in the desert (Las Vegas, NV). The part of the wall/ceiling that would get wet during a shower appears normal now (no staining or growths, nothing visible to the naked eye). Do I need to be worried about the possibility of house mold?

  1. you don't see any black? i mean it should be there for you to see? well you could call someone to inspect it if you trust someone. it could be there though and its bad if you ever want to sell house and i suggest you have it checked and get it fixed right with stuff replaced walls also.

  2. If there were mold, you would see it. If you don't see mold, then you have nothing to worry about. If you are worried, take some lysol and spray the wall where you think it may be affected. That will kill the mold that may be growing and unseen to the naked eye.

  3. surely that part you were talking about would be material suitable for showers, if it was ordinary gib board it would have rotted long before this, ask a builder to check for you

  4. If you were going to get mold, you would have it.  To feel better about it wash the wall with a 50/50 solution of bleach and water.  There are many kinds of mold and not all of it is the toxic one that does so much harm.  My drywall kept getting soaked before I got around to painting it and so got mold on it.  I just ripped it out and started over because that was cheaper than testing the mold.  But if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
