I learned 2 years ago when i was in 9th grade that women who have trouble getting pregnant or can't get pregnant with their husbands used artificial insemination...so thats basically getting pregnant with some strangers sperm? I mean you don't even know them and your having their baby? Is that how it works out? And there are egg donors too so you could use someone elses egg to get pregnant but then its not really your kid right? and how do guys donate their sperm? This probably has really obvious answers but I'm totally confused lol.

  1. Artificial Insemination does not have to be a strangers sperm.  It can be your husbands but for some reason they need to do it this way.  But yes some women do use strangers sperm in which the man makes a deposit into a cup and it is stored in a "sperm bank".  If you are really in the 11th grade you can figure out how he would get his sperm into the cup.  And yes there are egg donors too.  Some women donate their left over eggs after they are finished with their infertility treatments so that the eggs won't be destroyed.  And if a woman uses an egg donor then it would not be biologically her child, but she could still carry it.  If there is nothing wrong with the husband's sperm he could donate his sperm and they would fertilize the donated egg with his sperm so that he would be the biological father.  Sometimes people adopt embryos.  Those are eggs that have already been fertilized so in that case it wouldn't be either of the adopted parents biological child.

    Wow that got really confusing.
