Question about joining the Army Reserves to help pay for college. Can someone help?

I am a high school senior, and I'm looking for ways to help pay for college. I've always been interested in giving back to my country and serving in the military, but I don't want a career in the military. I like some of the plans the military offers to help pay for college through the Reserves, but I'm not sure which one is the best. I would ideally like to serve in the Reserves while attending college.

Can someone, other than a recruiter, give me some input? Preferably someone who has been down this path before.

Also, please don't waste my time and give some answer calling Bush an idiot and/or a murder.

  1. The new GI bill will take effect in Aug. of 2009.  Depending on where you live it will be very generous.  If you have little desire to kill people and don't want to see or experience combat, I wouldn't recommend a combat MOS.  The Army does offer a lot of enlistment bonuses, but it can be very unorganized and the moral fiber of some soldiers aren't of the highest caliber.  The Marine Corps is more disciplined and organized, but like the Army there are some scum bags.  The Navy is another option, but living on a boat isn't very fun.

However, you look at it just remember that enlisting in the military is a very serious thing.

  2. you will be signing your death warrant... even with the reserves if they need you they will send you to war,,, no is not them time for you to even think about the army  unless you are willing to sacrifice your life... think about once your in there is no going back...
