I have a judgment theres a old one they want me to pay the whole thing know I have a new one can I just pay the new one first its at the same place the judgments the old one is about 4 years old the new one just went on my credit

  1. Try to negotiate with the lender to pay your charge off at a fraction of what you owe, but only if they will take it off your credit report. Get it in writing from them that they will remove the item completely from your report if they agree. For the old one first try to dispute it if it is under $2000, they may not respond.


  2. You can pay off which ever one you want, but judgments accrue interest at a statutory rate.  You may want to pay off that old one before it racks up too much interest.

    By the way, either judgment could be used to attach you bank account, garnish your wages, or lien your property.

  3. If a judgment has been won against you, I would work to pay that one first.They've already sued and won. Is the second debt a judgment or still in collections? If it's still in collections, you can work with the debt holder to get this paid, and they may settle for less than what's owed. But in a lot of states, judgments are good for 10 years and can be renewed for another 10. All together 20 years, in some states. If you satisfy the judgment by paying it off, they won't seek to renew it.
