Question:

Question about keeping my pace while jogging?

When I started jogging it was truly jogging, not a whole lot faster than running. I think my average pace was around 4.7min/km. Now that I am in better shape ( and not smoking anymore, yay!), I seem to be running faster rather than running longer. Average pace now is 8.5mins/km. I've been trying to slow myself down bt then I lose it and start running faster again.

Any suggestions on how to slow down my pace so I can build my endurance better?

  1. You need to have a distance that you know how far you've run....for instance say a mile loop at a park.  Go there and tell yourself not to worry about running fast that you just want to run for 30-40 minutes. Count how many times you make it around in that time....but really your don't worry about the distance covered, worry more about running for this long 1-2 times a week.  Then the other days do a shorter distance and make sure to keep your speed on these days.  Good Luck

  2. controle your breathing... and just concentrate on slowing down.

  3. One of the best ways is to use music with a steady beat so you can time your steps to it. The hard part will be finding the right music but once you do find it just keep your steps in time with the beat of the music.
