Question:

Question about kick count cards?

I am currently doing one, but have one issue. The baby will move when on my left side, but not as much as he does on my right side. The instructions state to lay on my left side and do this before a meal? This kid kicks like no tomorrow on my right side and after I eat.

Is it important that I lay on my left side only and eat after I do the kick count?

  1. The whole point of doing a kick count is to make sure your little guy is active. If you are getting movement don't stress over it. My son was laying on his side with all of his hands and feet on my left so that's the only place I had movement. He remained in that position until minutes before he was born.

The reason they suggest laying on your left side and eating is that is what tends to get them up and going. If he is active you don't need to do it.

  2. I would say that as long as he IS kicking, it shouldn't matter what position you are in. I think they just tell you to lay on your left side because that is the when most pregnant women feel the most movement. Everyone is different.

  3. If your baby kicks like there is no tomorrow, you don't need to be doing kick counts. Kick counts are only important when you haven't felt baby for awhile and are worried. If baby is happily wiggling around you can get up and go on with your day.
