I'm 38.5 weeks pregnant and my midwife is going to be away starting next Sat, (the 6th), I REALLY want her here for the birth and am desprete enough to stick a wooden spoon up myself to get things going. I was able to feel my cervix and get 2 fingers inside, which my midwife said I would be 3 cm, but this morning I can't hardley reach my cervix. Is that good? Does that mean things are happening?? I haven't been having strong contractions, and nothing consistent. Does anyone have anysuggestions to get this baby coming? I've tried castor oil, didn't even p**p! s*x is not an option, (long storey), I've tried pressure points and nipple stimulation to, but the only bring contrations for a while and then go away. Someone please help me!! Thanks:)

  1. Sorry, baby doesn't sound ready to come out yet.  The birth is about you and your baby, not your midwife. It will be fine.

  2. How long are your arms/fingers??  I really don't think it is possible, or safe, to try to reach your cervix, and if it is possible (which sounds like it would take some serious contortion, as when my doc did it last time around, I was sure he crawled up there), it certainly is not safe and I am positive any reputable midwife would agree with that sentiment.  You can ask her to strip your membranes?  But please don't do anything yourself, as you could really injure yourself, the baby, or leave yourself open to infection or illness.  Your baby will come when he or she is ready, that is the bottom line, and anything other than medical assistance to do so is putting baby's and your health and well being in danger.

  3. i tried the long walks thing. i was mad at hubby cause he wouldn't touch me that pregnant. lil man had to be taken by emergency c section, after 8 hrs of labor and 3 hrs of falling heart rate.it will happen when it does. next time hire a midwife who's main concern is u!

  4. I guess you could schedule an induction.  The pitocin should get your contractions going.

  5. Go to the hospital they will be able to help you.

  6. well your body is starting at least. the baby will come when the baby is ready but i drank hot sauce and a couple hours later my water broke with my last two. nothing always works but you can also take hot showers which if you are having mild contractions it will relax your body so they will start harder. long walks are supposed to help. good luck and congrats
