  1. I bet if you looked around you could find leather gloves with a ventilation system so  your hands don't get so hot while riding. Also, you could always use gloves made with lighter fabric too.

Maybe this site will help! :D

  2. Well, first of all, you have my permission to go and buy a new pair!!

But, some leather is washable...so you can try that with something like Lexol cleaner and then condition them..I personally would keep those for everyday use.  If the re-hab works..if not, then please follow my first suggestion!!

I don't use leather gloves for everyday riding...as my hands get sweaty too and I find them hot, get hard like a knife and my finger'saren't as flexible.   I have found some really nice stretchy ones by SSG that give grip and I can just throw them in the wash..I don't put them in the dryer.  Maybe try some with a crochet back that will let air circulate.

Happy shopping!!...and only gloves are allowed!! he he

  3. have you tryed handwashing them with leather soap???

or you could use leather soft

    hope i helped

  4. You should maybe consider buying a new pair (for shows) and washing your old pair for schooling...you should put them on your hands after you wash them until they dry or they will shrink and you will never get your little paws in them again lol! If its that hot out, maybe skip the gloves...they are crucial..they just basically prevent calluses from forming...i never wear mine, unless im in showmanship with my horses....

    Good luck!

  5. Throwing them in the washer with woolite works well.  I now know why you would use gloves even in hot weather.  Last year, I got a beautiful pair of new buckstitched reins which matched my whole outfit, a 1960's Circle Y saddle, fully buckstitched with breastcollar, headstall (That I buckstitched) and the reins were the final accessory.  The only problem was, that they were NEW, STIFF and tore the heck out of these old hands upon our first trail ride (I've used the SAME reins for the past 31 years and they are supple, soft and work well.).  The following ride, I used my gloves that I'd only been using during snow when I fed the troops.  For the first real time, I appreciated those old gloves and about once a month throw them in the washer with woolite and let them dry on their own.

  6. Leather gloves are very warm and meant for cold weather riding. I would just get a pair of normal gloves (IDK what fabric they are). http://www.horse1st.com/acatalog/gloves_... I would wear leather in the winter.
