Question:

Question about liquids on airplanes?

I'm getting ready to fly for the first time, and I'm getting packed. I know you can't bring any liquids on the carry-on luggage, but what about the suitcase that's not carried-on? (I don't know what that's called :/) You know those small travel sized bottles of shampoos, conditioners, deoderants, soaps, and whatnot that they sell at Wal-mart? I have a couple of those, and wanted to know if it's ok to put them in a small zippered pouch in the luggage, or if you're not allowed to bring liquids, period.

Thanks ^^

  1. You are allowed to bring liquids 3 oz or less with you in your carry on bag as long as you place them in a bag and show them to security.

  2. You are allowed to bring liquids, although if you put them in your carry-on they must fit in one, quart size, zip-lock, see through baggie and the containers must be under 3 oz.  You are allowed to pack them in your checked luggage (that you give at the ticketing desk, that you don't take on the plane), as long as it isn't something like lighter fluid, etc. but you can pack regular sized shampoo & conditioner in your checked luggage... I would still put it in a large ziplock bag just in case it leaks.

Check out the FAA (or TSA's) website for the information on packing liquids and other items:  http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

  3. You are allowed to bring liquids/gels on board in your carry-on as long as you follow the new procedures.  The TSA is calling it the 3-1-1 rule:

3 - all bottles must be 3oz or less in size.  You can't take 2oz of shampoo in a 6oz bottle.  But you can take 2oz in a 3oz bottle.

1 - all bottles must fit into a 1-qt sized Ziploc baggie

1 - only 1 Ziploc bag per passenger

This bag is taken out of your carry-on and x-rayed separately.  Everytime I've gone, they've taken it out and just laid it on top of my carry-on, or in the bin with my carry-on.

Those travel size bottles are usually are 1-2oz in size, so they should be perfect for carry-on.

You can take any size bottles of these things in your checked luggage.

  4. U can't bring them with u onto the plane, but u can put them in ur luggage.
