Question about making dvd backups?

Question

I just bought an HP laptop,,,i want to make backups of my dvds so that i can wear out copies rather than the actual movies..what do i need to do??? i heard I need to save the entire dvd to my computer than use two different programs [one being a copy protection program that works around it] so what do i need to do? and what programs do i need?? thanks and i will pick a best answer.

dvd shrink(dvd to hard drive)

dvd decrypter (hdd to dvd)
