Question about male fertility testing...?

So my husband and I have been having trouble conceiving our 1st child. Anyways, I made him an appt. at the urologist to get check out. Apparently yesterday at work he was talking to a guy who is having the same problems with his wife and he told him that when he went the doctor stuck a needle down his you know what to collect a sample. So of course my hubby is freaked out now and is scared to go. Personally, I have never heard of this. Has anyone else heard of this for male fertility testing? Thanks

My husband had a s***n analysis first (which is just giving a sample in a cup) NO needles. Then you get the analysis. If there are issues then they go back to the urologist to discuss other options (like medication to increase motility) I've personally only heard of needles if they need a concetrated sample because of really low motility.

Same thing here.  I actually went in the little collection room with my husband and helped him to produce a sample for the cup.  It was not an enjoyable experience, but there was definitely no needle involved.
