My boyfriend and I are expecting a child together in December.
I am very afraid, because you never know what's going to happen. Immigration could show up at his restaurant and send everyone back home.
I have a horrible fear that he's going to be sent back. I will never ever move to El Salvador. So if he got sent back, my baby would never know his father.
I could definitely see us getting married in a year.
My friend, who has a green card, was telling me that since 9/11, even marrying an immigrant will not get them papers.
He said that because he entered the country illegally, he can't get papers.
He said the only way my boyfriend could get papers is if he returned to El Salvador for TEN YEARS to get a green card, then came back with a green card and married me.
This isn't fair. I need my baby's father in my child's life.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?
I live in NJ, if the state has anything to do with it.
