Question:

Question about maternity leave and working less hrs?

I am a full time employee and they have agreed that instead of having me go on maternity leave early, they will make my yearly salary into hourly and pay me for the hours I work. I currently usually get Fridays off at 3pm(everyone does) at full pay and since next Monday is a holiday we would normally get paid for that too. Is it being unfair of me to ask whether or not I get paid for that time as well? I still work my full hours even though I am not obligated to work them due to my dr sending a note to let them know my work week should be shortened if possible ( no medical condition just so I get more rest my normal hours are 8:30 to 5:30) I go on maternity leave when my dr says to stop working or I have the baby...whichever happens first.. thanks so much

  1. lol, i am an insurance agent so i sit in my office all day. its just as hard as standing. i get soooo uncomfortable. as for the holiday pay (yay, reminded me that its a 3 day weekend), i am sure they are paying you for it. i think even hourly workers get holiday pay. good for you to take time to rest. i have felt like i should cut back, but i am still doing my full time...

  2. wow, I wish I didn't have to still work from 830-6pm (or at least could have my work week shortened)!!! Do you stand all day?

I think you'd be asking out of just not knowing how your new pay works...so it should be fine.

  3. I think it doesn't hurt to ask if you get paid but since you are a full time employee you would get paid for it. Work as long as you can, I'm 34 weeks and still haven't given my notice, only bceause I feel great!
