my friend Candace is on Social Security disability cause she was in a bad motorcycle accident, she broke her hip and suffered some brain damage (short term memory problems), it has been a few years and she would like to get a job but she was told that if she got a job her daughter Cori's insurance would be cut off, she wanted me to find out if she does go back to work and her daughters insurance gets cut off is there like a type of secondary insurance she can get for her daughter? 1. Most Blue Cross Blue Shield companies offer, "child-only," policies, and the premium rates are very affordable. Visit the Blue Cross website in your state for a price.

  2. It is possible that, as she returns to work there may be a reduction, or even a termination in benefits from the State.  You should call the local Social Security office to confirm whether or not that is true.  If she looses her benefits, then so will her daughter, but it is unlikely that only her daughter will lose the coverage.

Also, if she goes to work in a full-time capacity, there is a possibility that her new employer will offer health insurance, and she should be able to add her daughter to that coverage without any problems.

  3. all these questions should be asked to the insurance carrier itself (medicaid, medicare, blue cross blue shields, united healthcare etc.) . Different carriers, different policies...
