Can you still see them tonight? I was out last night around 12am - 2am and could not see a single one here on the east coast. I was in my backyard in the pitch black.

  1. There seems to be an endless stream of questions on where and when this shower will be seen at various locations or in general.

To find where it will be visible at ANY location enter your location at the following site then check the calendar, it will give you best times, ZHR (hourly rate) overall and at your location.

And please please other people could you check that site before posing any more questions on this subject???!!!!!!!

  2. Meteor showers are not short-term events, they can last for days or even weeks.

The Perseid meteor shower occurs between July 17 and August 24, with the peak at 3:04 UTC on Aug 12. Most meteor showers have peaks that last at least a few nights.

As long as you are at a dark location away from bright lights, and you simply watch the sky (look towards the constellation Perseus in the northern sky, but meteors can be seen over the entire sky) you should see many meteors any night this week. The estimate of the number of meteors during the peak for the Perseids is around 60 per hour.

The best time to view any meteor shower is after local midnight.

But there is no guarantee that you will see meteors - even if your back yard was very dark, the lights from a nearby city or shopping mall or ball park could have been enough to drown out any meteor streaks.

  3. I live in NC. I was out at 1:30 this morning after giving my daughter a bottle and I only saw one. I set outside for 30 mins looking for more then I gave up and came back inside. Maybe there will be more tonight.

  4. We are still in the range for getting them.  Most of the ones I saw last night were short little ones.  Look towards the north-north-east.

    good luck!

  5. whoa,,, DUUUUDE~!~!~!

Mee too, in Southern Maryland,,, and the sky was clear, lotsa stars, and, about every three or four minutes, we got this flash and streak.

    Keep your eyes open~!~!'

Might not be as  many tonight, but, you may see a few stragglers, if the sky is not overcast and cloudy

  6. The peak was this morning but you should still be able to see some residual meteors over the next few nights. Keep looking up.
