  1. especially after the month I've had, I would stick with a regular pediatrician for your child.  they would be more knowledgeable if any serious problems came up.

  2. No, you will need to find a pediatrician for your baby.  She probably will do  follow-ups for 6 weeks on you and the baby but you will need to find some one to be your baby's doctor through childhood.

  3. i agree with you dark angel know your stuff. i hated my midwife she wanted to delivery baby but i was given total negative by her to where my mom/lawyer told her off. but to your question. Midwives stay as midwives. and as gyno. they do both. she will not be your baby's pediatician for every baby is given a certain pediatrician. and whoever they assign you at first do a background check first. the only way your midwife/gynpo will be your baby's pediatrician is if she changes her job statis and does a different pay. they mostly have a one or the other but not both, unless they are specialty in both and is a fill in for someones absence. hopes this help you out .congrates to your soon to be baby.

  4. my sisters is all !! her doc and the kids doc!

  5. It all depends on what you prefer. Talk to her about it, and see if she is comfortable with treating children on a regular basis past the newborn stage. Because your child's pediatrician ideally is the same person from birth to teens.
