my baby son has all but destroyed my old phillips stereo system (bits of seashell shoved into the tape decks, cd door used to hold milk bottle etc) So i was wondering if i could replace the whole lot with a small mp3 player attached to speakers? That way i could download all my music from the computer and place the whole lot on a high shelf out of way of the wee rascal. Do you think this could work? I know the sound just wouldn't be the same, but it's just to be able to have some music in the living room. Don't know anything about mp3's do you think this idea would work?

  1. You put your input cable from mp in to amplifier which has speakers wired into it and your off.

  2. the best thing to do i would recommend you to go to academy and buy an mp4 for only 49.99 and its 1gb so u could get speakers and if you want good sound i would recommend BOSE speakers for any mp3 !!!!!!

  3. well it's very common to have an ipod and a 3.1 system (2 tweeters and a bass bin) in the lounge.. but as you say you know nothing of mp3's you'll probably struggle with that part. the sound quality of mp3 is just as good unless you spend over £200 on a system and really blast it

  4. You could do but the speakers need to be powered or have an amplifier or they will be very quiet.  You can get speakers created specifically for connecting to mp3 players.

  5. yess soundz good
