it is a 7.4L v8 someone told me i could save gas if i down graded it to a 5.7L is that true?

Of course you would. How long it would take you to save money however, is a different story. Factor in the cost of the new motor and labor to swap it.

yea th 350 is lighter but make sure its fuel injected

Depends... there are many ways to dave fuel WITHOUT having to down grade. such as exaust chips tornados air filter chargers lots of things I would weigh all your options first. this would also depend upon if your truck is a fuel injected model. If your truck came origional with this motor, i would keep it that way
