  1. I don't have an answer, but just wanted to say that I can relate.....

My cat (3-yr. old spayed female) will stand around and meow for no apparent reason.  (I'll check her food, water, litter box, and all is fine.)

She does this a lot at night.  I'm wondering if she's lonely.

Get another cat, then let me know how it works and and if your cat is happier.  LOL!

  2. The depression worries me more than the meowing. Have him seen by your vet, he may be in pain. Any time a cats behavior changes, they need to see the vet.

  3. Has he been neutered?  If not, he may need some, you know.........

    He may need a friend.

  4. When does he usually meow?  Try to figure that out.  Are you playing with him to begin with?  If he has toys but you're not playing with him, try getting a fishing pole toy and see if that'll tempt him into playing.  If could just be that he's not getting enough attention from you and really needs to play with something instead of by himself.  It could also be that he's just really talkative.  He might be sick or something as well, so if it's been persisting for a while, take him into the vet!  They'll be able to give you ideas of what to do.

    Best of luck. =)

  5. Hmm.... if your cat is neutered then it may be the breed. If your cat is a Siamese its completely normal for the meowing. So it also depends on the breed. If your cat is not a vocal breed then your cat is depressed. Ask yourself, why is my cat depressed? Does my cat have a friend? Are you playing with your cat? You may want to purchase another cat. Its either you be the playmate or you purchase another cat.

  6. Hes calling another cat...its the "mating call'.  Is he neutered?  They usually do this when they are not neutered.

  7. There is more than likely a cat in the area that is in heat. Believe me, they can sense it from a mile away. They will meow until it goes away. I would say that is probably it. If he is digging at his ears and meowing he might have some ear mites. But the female cat in the area, is more than likely the reason! :)
