I have a 1992 Chevy S-10 with a 4.3 liter motor and a 5 speed transmission. My transmission recently blew up on me and after a lot of searching I found a chevy 5 speed transmission that came from a 4.3 engine. After I bought it I then found out that it did not come from a S-10 but a full size chevy pickup so even though it may fit on my engine the end of the trans that fits onto my drive shaft is completely different and it my trans is a little bit longer then the one i purchased. My question is, is there any way that i could use the trans i purchased? Is there any adapters I could buy that would let my drive shaft hook into it or anything?

  1. no way to use it with the stock 4.3 engine. take it back and get your money back

  2. Hmmm...shortening a driveshaft I have seen done...but making one longer.....I have never heard of stretching a driveshaft...although it may well be possible...I DO know you can have a custom shaft made, but plan on spending a few hundred bucks to get it done right. Get it balanced too, or you WILL hate your truck.

  3. u need to take your driveline to a shop that builds them and have them shorten it for u call them first as they will need a measurement from the transmission to the rearend u also need to check the splines on the driveline to make sure they fit in the transmission
