  1. It may not be ear mites. If the cat keeps scratching its ears, shaking its head and seems uncomfortable, then it could be mites.

I think it is just a build up of dirt and oil and wax, I think you can use a bit of diluted metho on an ear bud and just wipe it out.

My older cats get this occasionaly.

    Hope this has helped. Jane

  2. sounds like ear mites. buy an ear flush and mite treatment from the pet store and clean out as much of the debris as you can then use the mite treatment as directed or a trip to the vet if possible

  3. It is probably ear mites, does he scratch them a lot, you can buy ear mite meds at most stores and it will help clean them to.

  4. With my dog I gently wipe the outside part of the ear with a cotton ball, I would imagine this would work with cats as well [one of my cats had this problem, but he wouldn't let me touch his ears - they were very sensitive].

DO NOT, however, put anything inside of your cat's ear, unless it is a type of medicine provided by your vet. You can seriously damage your cat's hearing this way.

Your cat probably has some sort of ear mite, and you may want to take him to the vet.
