Question:

Question about my eye prescription?

I have a diopter of -3.25 on both my eyes (left & right).

i was shopping yesterday for OPTICAL SWIMMING GOGGLES. so i can see clearly when swimming, the only problem is that the prescription choices are:

1) Diopter -3.0

2) Diopter -3.5

Ok, so what number is equivalent to -3.25?

here is the link to the goggles...

  1. Get the 3.00.

You're not using extreme distance vision, swimming, and in any case the goggles are likely to fit closer to the eyes, giving slightly more power than the equivalent spectacle lens.

(If the 3.25 is a contact lens Rx, get the -3.50's.)

It's not a critical decision at all.   Either would "do" for swimming.

  2. You can use either one.

  3. I suggest getting the -3.0, as you don't need extremely sharp vision for swimming (you probably won't notice the difference at all) and the effects of getting a .25 higher perscription don't sound very good. I doubt anything will happen if you get the -3.5, but you never know. The previous poster probably thought you are under 21, in which case your perscription hasn't stabilized so taking the -3.5 is simply a good business investment, as your sight will probably get worse, and not better.

  4. The difference of 0.25 is so small it shouldn't make much difference (it's not going to hurt your eyes or anything like that). I would get the 3.5 ones as, chances are, your vision is more likely to get a little worse, than a little better.
