Question about my husbands Army sign on bonus ?

Thank you to all who answer!

My husband joined sept 11th 2007 his bonus was 20,000 We got to his first duty station April of 08. He got 10,000 which after taxes came to about 7,000. Now it will be the 1st year anniversary of him joining will he get the next part of his bonus in sept.? will it be 3,333 minus taxes? Thank you again for any info!

  1. Upon enlisting... he got the $10,000 gross.  Over the length of the enlistment he will get that share gross.   I take it he signed up for three years; if you have figured the $3333.33 gross.  That is what he will get minus taxes.

    $10,000 divided by years of contract.

    It is on the time he enlisted; regardless if he was on a delay entry or not; not upon completion of training.


  2. The Army pays the sign-on bonus in increments, until his original enlistment commitment has been fulfilled,

The Army pays 50% of a bonus at the completion of Basic Combat Training (which it appears they did - $10,000 gross, $7,000 net).  The other 50% is paid in equal installments for the remainder of a Soldier's enlistment.  So, if he signed on for 4 years, yes, he'll get about $3,333 on the anniversary of his completion of Basic Combat Training.
