Got a new tattoo yday. First one, i have read up alot about them and the aftercare, but just one thing. I am using savlon on it, but my bf is putting it on because its in an awkward place. When he gently rubs it on, little black bits come off on his finger. Is this part of scab already? Or is the ink coming out??? Its all black, they are paw prints. Not sure what they are, dont want the ink to be coming out. Thats cant be right can it? Is this normal?

  1. Usually it's excess ink mixed with the plasma from your blood. I suggest you air out the tattoo and avoid contact with anything as much as possible, clothes (kinda hard) etc. I would air it out for 3-4 days before applying any lotion to it. Always use anti-bacterial soap with hot/warm water while cleaning it and either air dry it for 10-15 mins when getting out of the shower OR lightly dab it with a soft cloth. DO NOT RUB IT WITH A TOWEL. As doing so will flake off any scabs and cause discoloration. After the 3-4 days, apply a tiny amount of non scented lotion, I prefer Aveeno myself SPARRINGLY just enough to cover it with a thin layer. I highly advise you do not use saran wrap or anything like that, because if your tattoo gets infected, the saran wrap will act as a catalyst to promote bacterial growth. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me. Also, when you do start to scab, i suggest "slapping" the tattoo as it wont cause any damage or irritation to your new piece of art as picking or scratching would =) Hope this helped.

  2. I know with my tats I don't add anything on it for a couple days.  Instead just wash it and keep it covered with saran wrap.  That's so the ink and the oozing from the tat don't get on anything.  You'll have some of the ink coming out, but it won't be the ink inside the skin, it'll be the ink that builds up on the surface.  You shouldn't have any problems.

  3. excess ink and blood plasma i always keep cling film on mine and no creams or potions at all change cling film 3 times a day and wash gently with soap and warm water never lost any colour or had infections and i do have lots of tattoos all black tribal including a full sleeve

  4. As everyone has said, its just scabs. Completely normal. Don't pick at them; they will leave white marks [I know from exp.] Don't put anything on your tattoo after you take off the initial bandage. It needs to breath and putting other bandages and stuff on it can take color out of the tattoo. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call your artist. Its his/her job to help you with the tattoo process. Use unscented lotion too; anything else will irritate it.

  5. Just part of scab

  6. its normal, its just excess ink. dont worry. you will probably see alot more come off when it starts peeling and you will probably worry that it will fade. just keep it moisturized and wait till its fully healed before judging.

  7. Its the residue of the ink on top of your skin that didn't come off when he wiped

Mine peeled blue when touched so its not scabbing yet

    The ink cannot come out.

It can only fade, so, always keep sunscreen on it!

  8. the black stuff probably is the scab coming off. when you rub lotion on your tattoo, you'll probably see little bits of black stuff on your hands and thats just the scab.
