Alright first off I have a panasonic color video monitor which does not have any type of tuner in it, therefore I lead three wires(yellow, white, and red) into a vcr, I plug in a rabit ears anntenna into my vcr. My vcr is the device that changes channels so do I need to get additional eqiupment to still recieve a signal in febuarary?

Also the vcr is from 1997, so does that mean it probably doesn't have a digital tuner?

  1. Your VCR  does not have a digital tuner.

To keep using your antenna after 2/17/09 you will need at least one converter box or something else with a digital tuner (like a DVD recorder with ATSC tuner).

If you stick with your current VCR you might want to buy two converters. that way you can record one program while watching another.

What happens on 2/17/09 is that most analog TV transmitters will be shut down. In many areas there is already more digital programing than analog. I suggest requesting one of your coupons now so you can try things out and find out if you need a better antenna.

You can find out what local digital broadcasts you have in the TV section of Yahoo.

  2. Those red, white, and yellow connections should be fine if you purchase the same convert my dad bought.  We bought the converter from Zenith from Circuit City.  You have to actually go to the store.  It has those A/V connections for hooking up to your TV.  The only thing I am not sure of is if you can use the coaxial jacks to hook up to your VCR.
