Question about my snowboard.?

I snowboard but its's a little short on me, goes to about my lower-middle chest. My dad says I shouldn't use it anymore, but I went down slopes with it and to me, it's still fine.

Is it bad to have a snowboard that's too short for you?

Whould it affect how I ride it?

Thanks

  1. it would affect how easy the turns are. short boards are great for tricks but long onse are for spees. if you have the money try to get a longer board that you can use all the time but still keep the small one if you really like it.

  2. The board sounds a little short for you but if you're comfortable using it and it responds well for you then keep on keepin' on.  Short boards are good for trick riding and are super easy to turn.

Your height isn't the only thing to base the length of the board on, your weight is a factor too.  If you're skinny then you would be better on a shorter board than a longer one.

If your old man is offering to buy a new board for you you might as well take him up on it though!

  3. A board that only comes to the lower part of your chest is incredibly small...A good marker for length is to have the deck reach somewhere between your chin and nose....I ride a board quite a bit bigger than that, but I like the stability and speed this gives...your short board would be a jib board at best...BUT, if your comfortable keep riding it..if you have the finances to step up to a larger board you'll find you'll progress quite a bit..

  4. It is still useable - but it will limit what you can do.

It will actually work better in the park doing tricks but will not be able to distribute your weight evenly on the edge when doing faster turns on the slopes. Too small of a board will put too much pressure on the center of the edge and will make the board "touchy" when doing turns.

Of course, a stiffer short board won't be as much of a problem as a softer short board.

    Good Luck

  5. board actually go by weight. allot of pro's will be riding a board about were your board is. it also depends on you riding style and capability. a shorter board is better for beginers while a longer board is for advance riders that look for speed
