Question:

Question about my subs & possibly new amp!?

Okay, currently i have 2 10" shallow subs @ 1000w each and looking around for a new amp. The one that im looking at is 1800w peak (mono block). now, the 10" subs have a 4 ohm resistance (per sub). On the speck sheet for the amp, says 4 Ohm @ 500RMS, 2 Ohm @ 900RMS and 1 Ohm stable 900RMS. Does this mean for the 2 subs the amp will produce 250RMS into each sub? Also, can you rewire the subs into a 2 Ohm resistance to produce the 900RMS, and how well would they handle it. What would the general outcome be if i just wired it all up as is? Any help would be great. cheers

  1. lunchbox is correct

  2. If you wire the subs in series you can get to a 2 ohm load and they will pound!  Each sub will be getting 450 RMS.  This is the simplest way to set it up.  You'll run one wire from the + on the amp to the + on one of the subs and then another wire from that sub's + to the + on the other.

    amp---sub 1---sub 2
