Question about naruto's life?

Question

The village of Konoha knew about the 4th Hokage's identity. Sanins i presume, Jounins who are alive that time, the Elders, the Root (ANBU) they knew him positively. So the village and the people also knew about Naruto's mother, she was pregnant before the 4th's death...

With this knowledge about the 4th, i came up with 2 questions:

1. Why are they hiding the 4th's identity on Naruto, that his father was the 4th Hokage and the one who put the Kyuubi inside him?

2. They also hid the identity of his mother (wth,wtf), for what purpose they are doing it?

Please understand the questions BEFORE posting, because its annoying to read replies that is far far far far away from the topic...

They did it out of his own protection. I would think if enemies had found out about the 4th Hokage being Naruto's father Naruto would be targeted so they kept that information from Naruto as well as the rest of the village so it didn;t get out and Naruto wouldn't be targeted or hurt. Although the village had known that the Kyuubi was inside Naruto and thats why he had just a bad childhood as everyone ignored and feared him,so he was alone. Also it could have been that if they told him about the 4h Hokage being his father it is possible he wouldn't have trained so hard and would have taken for granted being the 4th Hokage son thinking there is no reason to train and that he already has a gift from his father.

As for why they did that about his mother,it probably was for the same reason for his own protection. Or that they didn't want to tell him,because they would want to spare the though about telling him about his mother,possibly being dead (as we don't know what really happened to her,and this could be a reason why she isn't around) or that they don't know what happen to her,so instead of telling what happen to Naruto,they kept it to themselves.

i actually ask the same question maybe months ago, well the answer that i got was for the own protection of naruto.....

They didn't want him or anyone in the village to know or talk about it, because it would upset him if he found out the truth and he might go crazy.
