Question about notifying friends and family about engagement

Okay, so I just got offically engaged today (woooohoooo!!!!!!) and my fiance is calling all his friends to tell them, anyways, he has these two best friends, and he chose one to be his best man,

now he has to call the other best friend and somehow tell him he isn't going to be the best man.. how does he handle this tactfully???

  1. I'd let them both be best men... and the one your fiance' is closest too put him next to him...then the other....why leave one out...when you don't have too....Congratulations....HH


  2. There can be two best men. One on either side.  

  3. Umm. Why is he calling these people today. It's a little soon. You don't tell someone they aren't in the wedding. You just don't say anything at all. They will get the hint.  

  4. There is no reason why he can't have TWO best man's unless he for some reason really doesn't want the other guy to be "best man".

    There isn't a real easy way to do it honestly. Just don't mention it to him and ask him to only be a groomsmen.

    You never tell someone a negative. If he's asking him to be a groomsman, he just asks him that. If he's not having him as a groomsman, he just tells him about the engagement.


  6. He tells this friend the great news and then asks him to be a grooms man or usher; and not make a big deal out of it.  If the guy is a true friend, he won't mind, he'll just be happy for the two of you (and glad he doesn't have the responsibility of being the best man!)
