Question about ohio turnpike traffic laws?

is it true that if you get a ticket on the ohio turnpike and you are an out-of-state driver that your liscense won't be penalized? a friend of mine got a ticket (91 mph) and wanted to fight the ticket so that the points don't hit his liscense. he has a business where he has a lot of vehicles in his name and can't afford to have his insurance rise. by the way he resides in virginia.

today he was told that if you get a ticket on the turnpike there won't be any points added to your license because it's governed by a seperate entity and all they want is their money. i'm thinkin to myself that can't be true otherwise how did they give you a court date?

so is there any truth to this, and if so does this apply to all turnpikes? i am aware that there are a few turnpikes IN AMERICA that are owned by foreign countries, is this one of them and is this the reason why points won't hit your license on traffic violations?

  1. Wow, who ever told you that was on some really good stuff. First of all ohio has no out of country own its land or roadways that are public property. Second ALL turnpikes are own by the ohio department of transportation and governed by the ohio depart. of public safety. Under the public safety fall all law enforcment agencies in ohio. Ohio highway patrol (OSP) is responsable for the turnpikes and has  a court system. EX: Certain part of the turnpike when it cross parma area, if you get stopped and ticket the Parma municipal court picks it up and OSP troopers go their to testify or etc...

I'm sure all states are like ohio in some way. Local, state and federal government. Like where i live City police for my house along with the sheriffs office to help out when the city cant and then state police OSP for state owned property Turnpike, state buildings, etc... then of coure the federal field offices where any federal crimes take place they almost always are called. hope this helps you
