the deadline for osap is past deadline but i have heard from a friend that you can still apply. i am not in dire, killer financial stress, but i would b grateful for any extra money i can get to pay for costly uni.i heard the cdn gov't will give grants along with the osap and i am going to utsc. my question is, do i have to apply w/ osap to get a grant? since it's past deadline, how can i get this grant? and how does osap work for my uni (utsc) if i don't really need the osap money, just the grant? i heard osap puts the money in my bank acct and i can leave it there without touching?

any help would be great!

  1. There is no deadline for OSAP.  You may not get all the funding that you could have if you apply late, but the only "deadline" is that you have to apply (I think) 6 weeks before the END of your program.  Of course, if you do that, you are only eligible for 6 weeks of funding, which would be silly.

If you are eligible for grants you will get them automatically.  However you cannot take the grants and refuse the loan.

If you are eligible for OSAP, the money is deposited into your bank account.  If you choose not to use it, that is up to you.

But OSAP is calculated based on your need.  So if you can afford to let the money sit in your account unused you probably don't need it, so you won't get it.
