Question about oscar fish?

I have an oscar fish and I feed him feeder fish, I was wondering why does he spit the scales out when he is done eating the fish

i don't think that the scales have any nutritional value for your fish. thats why he spits them.

well from my experience.. they're dam messy eaters >< i remember when i bought a batch of feeders and my oscar ate only the tails leaving the head to float around the tank, and another time i found the skin of 4 feeder fish caught in the plants with no body in them..

and another bit from my experience.. is that don't give them to many feeder fish, they're not that nutritious and after they taste live food they pretty much will ignore almost everything else.. right now im trying to get my fish to eat pellets, since they're cheaper and healthier lol.. but of course once in a while maybe ill pick up some live food.

Probably doesn't like the taste/ doesn't want to eat them. Don't feed alot of feeder fish, they're not that healthy
