Question about pain?

I just bashed my knee really hard into the corner of my desk, and thought I was going to pass out, then I felt really sick. It happened about 20 minutes ago. It hurt so much, then after nearly passing out the pain stopped. My kneecap looks misshapen. Why did the pain disappear?

you could have stunned a nerve ending and the blood flow to the nerve and the surrounding area the pain stopped. if your knee looks different, i would go have an X-ray done. i hurt my knee when i was 12. i was running across the gym and went to jump up on to the stage and drove the corner into my knee. i was too proud to have anyone put ice on it and the next day it swelled up to twice the normal size. i ended up w/water on my knee and the patella was chipped. had to have it drained. so i hope you've iced it and if not go ahead and ice for 15 mins on, 1/2hr off and than 15 on again and do this as tolerated. next day use heat and take some advil to keep swelling down and for pain. feel better!
