Anyone know anything about parrot fish?

I have a fairly large parrot fish. Are there any types of food I can feed him besides the regular flake food? I know they will somtimes eat blood worms but is there anything besides that?

I've done this twice and not sure why it keeps ending up in the bird section...lol. I'll try again....

  1. Well, pretty much they'll eat anything they can put their mouth around. So if you wanna shake things up for him, you can try feeding him various live foods like guppy fry. You can try cultivating your own night crawlers (in order to get them without pesticides or other nasty things) and feed him worms. There are also things like freeze dried shrimp you can try, but they don't usually have many nutrients (they're kinda like cheetos for fish) or you can get some frozen shrimp from the store and cut them up and see if he'll eat it. (be sure to take it out if he won't eat it.) Or, even better, you can do live brine shrimp - probably not baby brine shrimp, but actually adults - you know, sea monkeys?

And um, I guess they'll take all sorts of flake food and such, too. :)

    Good Luck!

  2. I feed mine minnow and guppies. I have learned with my 10..no one else can go in their tanks. No one!

I put in 5 medium sized bala sharks..they wer all gone the next day. That was almost 40.00 in fish!

I also feed frozen brine shrimp and blood worms and fish flakes and dried tubiflex cubed worms. And the love romaine lettuce.

  3. Get the book The Marine Aquarium Handbook; Beginner to Breeder by Martin Moe. He has alot of different recipes for foods to add a little variety.
