In the confederate anthem they say "I hate the Declaration of Independence too". Whyd they hate the Declaration?

Please no stupid answers. I would prefer answers from somebody who supports the confederacy not somebody that doesn't know anything about the war.

  1. Confederate hatred for the Declaration might be a response to Jefferson's much-quoted words "all men are created equal." In a famous 1861 speech, Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens rejected that core American value and declared that the Confederate States of America was a nation founded on the principle that all men are NOT created equal.  The "cornerstone" of the new Confederate nation, Stephens said, was "the great truth that the ***** is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition."  If you love those words, you have to hate Jefferson's.
