What do the signs mean that the guys iln between pit row and the track hold up? I can see that one side of the sign says "Power IN" meaning they want the driver with last name of Power to come in for a pit, but one the other side they kept changing the words to say " P 26" etc, etc, What does that mean?

  1. pit signs are a backup for the driver/pit crew to communicate if the radios go out or they just want to mix signals to the spotters of other teams.the term "power in"means to drive harder into the corner.you will see things like "p 26" and this means that the driver is running in position 26 or in 26th place, also you may notice a "+ .15"or a "-.15" this tells the driver that his lap times have either increased or decreased from lap to lap.some drivers prefer to have a visual reminder as well as the radios to communicate from the pit crew.

  2. i dont know for sure but could it also mean to pit in 26 laps or pit on lap 26.the -.15 or +.15 can refer to tire pressure change. i dont know sorry.

  3. The boards are used to communicate when to pit.  P26 would be pit lap 26. These are useful when the radio is not working.
