Will sound work if you play a dts DVD through a DVD player that supports dts but doesn't go through an amp, and straight into the TV?

  1. DVD players supporting 'dts' ... just means it can read the 'dts' tracks on the DVD..... but u need to decode the signal before sending it to the speakers..... A normal amp will not do this job..... U need a "home theater receiver" or a "DTS decoder+ amp"

  2. Television speakers don't benefit from DTS.  You need a home theater system for that.  If you select DTS from the audio menu or setup menu of the disk, you will probably not hear any sound from the TV.

More expensive DVD players both read and decode the sound.  It is more common for the player to read the format and the amplifier to do the decoding.

  3. right.

your tv will not decode DTS

More questions? Just e-mail me. I have owned a home theater business

  4. the sound will work but just not in DTS quality, you would need a home cinema Kit for this that can decode the DTS Signal, even if you so have a Home cinema Kit without the decoder im sure you will still have great sound....
