Question about possible miscarriage?

i had my first ultrasound last wednesday. there was no fetal pole and i had a blood clot on the sac. they said i was about 6 weeks along by the measurement of the sac. my doc had me get my hcg levels checked. they were at 20,000. he wanted me to get them checked again in 48 hours and wanted them to double. but 48 hours later they only went to 23,000. saturday, i started cramping like crazy and bled this brownish-redish stuff. there was a marble sized clump in it, too. while eating dinner, i got extremely light headed and felt like i was going to pass out. since then, i've been cramping occasionally and there's still dark blood when i wipe. is this a miscarriage? please help, i'm pretty stressed.

  1. Yes, Sorry.. that is most definitely a miscarriage.  Your Dr should have prepared you for this because of your levels.  If the levels do not double in 48 hours, which yours did not, then a miscarriage is eminent.  I do suggest going in for another blood test to make sure you passed everything and your levels are back down below 5.  If not, you may require a D&C.

I am sorry for your loss.  I had a miscarriage kinda like yours.  I went in for my sonogram and they told me I must not be as far along as I thought I was... but to get another blood test.. and when I did, my levels had not doubled.  Shortly after, I started bleeding and I lost the baby.

Time will make this easier but you'll never be over it.

  2. I think it is, but you should probably go to the ER so they can tell you for sure and maybe give you something for the pain. I'm so sorry this is happening to you! Email me soon!

  3. I'm so sorry you are going through this--this is such a frightening time, I know.  It sounds quite possibly like a miscarriage--only your doctor can tell you for certain.  My first miscarriage started with bleeding and bad cramps--after I passed a large clot and the cramping stopped I knew what had happened but still wanted to check in with the doctor.  No matter what happens, please don't blame yourself.  I know this is little consolation, but this happens to many women and especially in the early weeks there is no certain reason.  Probably something has gone wrong in the process of development and it is not your fault.  I have personally miscarried three times but also have four beautiful boys and am expecting my fifth.  Even if you are miscarrying, it doesn't mean you won't be able to have a perfect baby in the future.  I wish you the best.

  4. Thats the exact same thing that happened 2 me when I had a miscarriage. It didnt really come out unless I went 2 the bathroom and wiped. It sounds like u are having a miscarriage. I went thru the same thing. I didnt know if I wasnt or if I was. But u said u saw a clump then more than likely it was the baby. Mine came all out over a period of a week and a half. But clumps when ur pregnant are bad and it sounds like ur having a miscarriage....Im srry 2 hear and I wish u the best!!!
