Question about pot odds in texas holdem?

when getting the pots odds i know you have to get the outs and times it by 4 on the turn and 2 on the river for the odds of making your hand... and i know you need to be getting odds to make your hand then putting money in the pot.. my question is how to calute the pot like say if the pot is 2k and the guy raises my me 400 after the flop and i have a 36% chance of making my hand do i call ? is there a simple way to figure this out

  1. not quite.

    outs divided by 40 per card is your chance to win. if you have 4 outs, for example, you have a 10% chance each of making it on the turn and river. combined, it's about 20% (actually slightly lower.)

    Turn this back into a ratio: 4 out of 40 = 10% = 1 out of 10. You need pot odds of 10 to 1 or better to call.
