  1. Property Damage covers damage done to the OTHER truck, car or object (like a telephone pole or mailbox).

When you husband hit another truck, the property damage would kick in to pay to fix the OTHER truck NOT your husband's rental truck.

For your husband to have his rental truck fixed he would need to pay the collision deductible.   Make sure that he reads over the paperwork for the rental truck to find out if he has the $500 deductible, but $500 is a common deductible for collision.

Collision deductibles apply when a person is in an at-fault accident and pays their collision deductible to have their own vehicle repaired.

I have never heard of a $0 deductible for collision.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Read the rental contract.  Most likely he's being charged the deductible for the damages to the truck that he was driving.  The damage to the vehicle that he was driving is claimed under the Collision coverage, less any deductible.

The PD coverage on the vehicle that he was driving would cover all of the costs of repairs on the other vehicle (at least up to the policy limits) but NOT the one that he was driving.

  3. Did they never tell him of his liability before he took the job / truck?

  4. they are most likely charging him the 500 ded for collision to fix the truck HE was driving. property damage to the other auto will be paid by the company with no ded.

  5. Did he sign insurance papers for the rental truck? If so then you need to research that charge b/c the insurance should cover it UNLESS someone else was driving the truck. If he did not opt for the rental insurance then he has to pay the $500. Wait are you sure the $500 isn't the deductiable? That is prob why he has to pay, so the truck can be fixed.
