So I did a search yesterday and it said you can leave pumped milk out for up to 12 hours at room temp? Is this true?

  1. no I would say like 4 or so...I wouldn't leave it our for 12 hours...Just to be safe....if you put the pumped milk into a milk storage bag it is very easy to heat under warm water...

  2. yes that is true but i wouldnt suggest it

  3. I don't think I'd use it after about ten hours. And the room can't be too hot.

  4. yea.. but my son won't take it. It has to be the perfect temperature for him.  Is your kiddo picky? If so, I wouldn't do it.

  5. well i've heard loads of different times and the minimum was of 5hours, so i choose to go by that since its better to b safe then sry.

i also heard ppl tellin me that it'l stay gud in the fridge for up to 8 days! though i've read that 72hours max!.. lol.. i alwys go by the minimum, i keep it in the fridge for 2-3 days n if i need it for later on then i freeze it.

another thing.. some say to keep in freezer for 3 weeks others for up to 6 months! it depends on the type of freezer u have. if its constantly being opened or not.. etc

lol i think ive only confused u more! i personally would suggest goin with the minimum amount of time to b safe. as long as its out of the sun or heat i think 6 hours sounds reasonable.

    :) x

  6. While different sources differ slightly in their recommendations (and it does vary too with the temperature of the room); yes, freshly pumped milk can be left out for 8-10 hours, sometimes more.

(Fresh milk is a 'living substance' -- and the live cells in it keep it from spoiling.  And, FWIW, freshly milked [non pasturized] animal milks are also safe for quite a few hours at room temperature.  Back in the days before refrigeration, a cow might be milked in the evening, and the milk consumed the next day.)
