I have a S&W 686 square butt, K/L frame revolver and I'm looking to replace the rubber grip that it came with. I found a pic of what I want but I can't seem to find a website that sells it. Does anyone know where I could find this? Here is the pic. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.sportschutter.nl/WBFS&W686.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.sportschutter.nl/wapens_van_bezoekers.htm&h=771&w=1024&sz=282&hl=en&start=46&tbnid=QuON4xzkpTN31M:&tbnh=113&tbnw=150&prev=/images?q=smith+and+wesson+686&start=40&gbv=2&ndsp=20&hl=en&sa=N

  1. What you are looking for is a Hogue grip.  They are awesome.  My 686 Classic Hunter came with one on it, and I have installed 2 more on some other handguns I own.

Here is the link to their website with a pic:

You can probably get them cheaper from someplace like Sportsmans Warehouse, Midway USA, etc.

    Good Luck!

  2. You're looking for checkered walnut wood grips.  They are also called combat grips.  Try the gun show.  The smooth-wood version were called 'Bear Hug' grips.  These were made popular by the late, great gun writer Skeeter Skelton who seemed to prefer these on his S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum.  A lot of people take checkered wooden grips off and replace them with rubber grips.  Ask around, you might even get a pair for free or next to nothing.

    Good luck.
