Question:

Question about purse safety?

Getting ready to go on a big vacation soon with GF and was wondering what is better to deter purse thieves - a purse that you wear diagonally across your body (shoulder across to the opposite hip, over your head) or a purse that you sling over one shoulder?

Thanks.

  1. You don't say where you are going...I travel in third world countries quite a bit and personally I don't carry much.  I try to carry on my body my passport, credit card (1) and some cash.  If I carry a purse I use it for my lipstick, makeup and extras.  If I'm just touring a small one is perfect.  If I"m shopping a large over the shoulder is best, but I never put anything I could afford to lose in it.

If you are just going to the beach or in the US, don't even sweat it.

Have a great time and stick together.

  2. you should get the small side (diagonal) ones,

they're much more secure and harder for others to get into.

    hope i helped =]

  3. Why give thieves something they can grab on to?  Whether on her shoulder or across, it's always a target.  Thieves have been known to cut a strap on a purse worn across the shoulders.  Instead, a small wallet that can be carried in your front pocket might be a safer alternative.

As mentioned above, a small purse for essentials is ok, just don't put your valuables in it.

Best of luck on your trip.

  4. I would recommend not taking a purse at all, if possible.  If it can't be avoided, definitely one the would go diaganolly from shoulder to hip, over the head.  The kind that just sling over one shoulder are WAY too easy to be grabbed.
