Ok so first I had sims 1 which as a deluxe is 2 cds. I decided to upgrade to sims 2. I installed it(all four cds) and unfortunately its too slow. And its only sims 2 everything else like my internet and stuff is working fine. I uninstalled sims 1 and i even deleteted some unneeded documents. Is there anything else i can do to speed it up without uninstalling completing and tossing it to the side til i get a new computer?

  1. Its probably because you need more ram and or a better graphics card. try buying more ram and a better graphics card see if that solves it.

  2. Unfortunately it looks like your computer doesn't have enough RAM or possibly processor power to run the new Sims 2. This means that you would either have to upgrade the RAM or buy a whole new computer in order to have The Sims 2 run faster.

Turning off running applications, such as MSN or anything that is running in the background may help a little, but the most permanent way is to upgrade RAM.

  3. Make sure the settings in the game are for 'best performance' and there are few other programs running at the same time.

It also depends on the specs of your computer. You might need more RAM, which is cheap from newegg.com and not hard to install yourself. Make sure it's compatible with your system, though. It could also be old and have more stuff on it than you think. Ask someone you know who knows about computers to take a look. CCleaner will help clean up some of the c**p, too.

  4. do a disc cleanup, it works great, I had the same problem, you may have deleted it form you're desktop, but the things are in the recycling bin taking up room, delete them from the bin and it will go faster
