I am interested in buying a impounded car from the NYC impounded automobiles auctions. When you go to http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/html/services/services_auctions_vehicles.shtml the site for the auction listings and when you click on the .pdf files of the listed cars, there is a column that says "leinholder". I'm not sure what thia means, can someone please explain it to me? Will i have to pay the leinholder money in addition to the money being paid for winning the auction? I need to know. Thanks.

  1. That's who hold the lien (the bank who lent the money).

So if the car was impounded (parking ticket, parking violation, etc.) the car loan still exists.

    Good Luck...
