Question about renting a car for family vacation?

i want to rent a car for 4 days but im only 21 and i want to put it on my creditcard but i think im underage to do so

is this true?

also if i get someone older than 25 to put it on thr card does hat person have to be the driver

i heard that the person that rents the car has to be the driver?

is that true?

  1. Generally the person renting the car is the only one covered by the rental cars insurance and although they can add someone else as a driver because you are under their minimum age (25) they wont let you be a driver at all.  

    I am fairly sure there is at least one major rental car company that will rent to 21 year olds, you'll just have to start calling around to see which one it is because I can't remember who it is.


  2. You have to be 25 to rent a car where I live and only the person who signs the papers is insured to drive it.

  3. Most places require the driver to be 25 or older, and while the person who rents it doesn't have to be the driver, only designated people can be.  If someone else is driving and there is an accident, the insurance won't cover it.

  4. I rented a car when I was 21. I don't know if it was because I was in the Military though.
