Are there certain people who just can't get ripped? I mean some people work out so much and just do not get ripped. Like what about people who work out hours and hours like bj penn, chuck lidell and stuff. Why are they not ripped even though they work out hours and hours a day, and there still not ripped? Do some people just not have the ability to get ripped?

  1. Small or delicate people often have a hard time getting buff.

  2. i dont know but i kind of think thats a little true I know people that work out incessantly and they barely get tone but its from year of not working out at all so it takes years to get ripped. I think its a matter of time and fat ratio that you have until you can get ripped

  3. diet has more to do with getting ripped than training like a maniac 8 hrs. a day. it is the balance between diet and training that developes a ripped physique. with fighters most times genetics plays a big part. some guys just carry more body fat than others.

  4. if theyre small it may take them a while

  5. A partial reason to your answer is that guys that get ripped, that is all they do.  They spend their lives in the gym.  The reason behind not getting ripped believbe it or not, is their diet.  You must have a diet that sustains 60 to 70% of protein a day, otherwise all that weightlifting does you no good.  Your muscles are instead being worn down instead of built up.  I learned this at a health lesson recently at Ohio state.

  6. Genetics definitely plays a part in it.  Some people can't get ripped, some people can't get big, some people can't get small...you name it.  But, a lot of people who get ripped do really well-rounded workouts.  They do both low rep-high weight bodybuilding exercises and high rep-low weight exercises along with cardio-training.  If you do either or, then chances are that it'll be hard for you to get ripped.  But, if you do all of them, then chances are that you will get ripped.  And don't forget about dieting.  You definitely need enough protein to maintain and build muscle mass.

  7. Getting muscular and getting ripped are two different things.

Getting muscular is hard and getting ripped is equally hard.

Getting muscular means you have to take in and extra amount of protein and other nutrients so that your body does not pull the fuel from its reserves and has extra to synthesize building muscle.

Getting ripped means that you have a low fat content. Your muscles are very defined, its the fat that surrounds the muscles and the water that swells them and your fat that gives the bulk and not the definition of rippling muscles.

To get ripped is to be unhealthy.
